On the occasion of World Environment Day and in accordance with the joint scientific cooperation agreement signed between Al Baath University and the Kovalevsky Institute of Marine Biology of the Southern Seas, the university received a delegation from the institute to discuss the prospects for cooperation, particularly in the field of biodiversity. President of Al Baath University, Prof. Abdul Basit Al Khatib, indicated that the purpose of this meeting is to deepen and activate academic scientific cooperation with the Federal Republic of Russia, noting that the Kovalevsky Institute is one of the world’s leading institutes in the field of environmental and marine biodiversity, which helps to encourage joint scientific research and the exchange of students and researchers.
Institute deputy director for international affairs,Prof.Georgy Gyorny, expressed his pleasure at visiting the university and contributing to the reconstruction of Syria, stressing the importance of scientific cooperation between the two universities because Al Baath University is one of the most important Syrian universities.
After the meeting, Prof. Natalya Yurievina Mirzova and Prof. Oleg Mironov lectured in biology at the faculties of chemical and petroleum engineering, science and civil engineering.
The university vice-presidents, the university secretary and the deans of the relevant faculties attended the meeting.
