30/10/2023The Second Faculty of Education in cooperation with the Child Care Aossiation held a workshop on ” The role of classroom teacher in mitigating the effect of violence” with the participation of 50 students. During the workshop, the lecturers addressed issues and societal problems about violence and its effects and consequences on students through the interactive theater which included sketches that the trainees and child actors interacted with them.
Dean of the Second Faculty of Education, Prof. Basil Al Arnous,, stressed the importance of this workshop in introducing the faculty students to the issues and problems that may encounter them during their practical life so they are trained to deal with the cases of violence and referr them to social workers. He also pointed to the importance of partnership and cooperation between the Faculty of Education and non governmental organisations (NGOs) in achieving the educational goal .
The coordinator of the gender-based violence program at the Child Care Association, Mrs. Bana Hasan, indicated to the role of the workshop in highlighting the role of the classroom teacher and the school in socialization alongside the family, as the teacher is the role model for the students and it is necessary to have that influential role for creating a new trend among students to fight all types of violence.
The specialist in interactive theater of gender-based violence, Mrs. Sarah Saad,emphasized that interactive theater has a major role in presenting problems and ways to solve them, as it is the most effective awareness-raising tool for conveying information. Several sketches about violence were performed by a number of children, and
the students participating in the workshop praised the practical information presented in the workshop, which enriched their theoretical information.
