23/03/2022The presidency of Al-Baath University and the party leadership at the university branch honored Prof. Waad Saftli from the university Faculty of Science, winner of the L’Oréal-UNESCO Prize for emerging Arab women scientists in the Middle East for 2021, for her project “Studying the evolution of galaxies through the history of the universe” in Dubai, from postdoctoral researchers category.
Prof Abdul Basit Al Khatib, the university president, pointed out that for the second time in a row, Al-Baath University has won the L’Oréal-UNESCO prize. He emphasized the importance of Prof. Saftli’s victory among 14 Arab scientists from the Middle East and North Africa region, noting the great support to Syrian researchers and their achievements that we are proud of and consider them the cornerstone of the development of higher education and scientific research . .
The secretary of B.A.S.P branch at the university, Prof. Fayeq Shadood praised the role of Syrian researchers who proved their ability in achieving great accomplishments despite the circumstances of the war . .
. He also indicated that Prof. Waad Saftli is an active and distinguished member of the Faculty of Sciences and she always endeavors to serve her university through her research.
